What Are the European Roulette Rules?

Roulette is a well-established casino game, owing to its long history spanning two centuries and a player-base that numbers at six figures at the very least. It has been with gamblers long enough that the game has evolved and spawned several variants that cater to the tastes of its players or that of the casino’s proprietors.

One of these variants is European roulette. For many, this version of the game is the “default” variety, being often referenced when one talks about drastically different roulette games like French and American roulette. In addition, European roulette has also become the basis of many less known varieties, many of which you’ve probably only encountered in online casinos.

Basic Characteristics of European Roulette

The game set up of European roulette is almost what you can consider an archetype of roulette. It’s composed of no more than the table with an appropriately labeled layout and the wheel at the far end – not very different from that of American roulette, which to many, is the only other version of the game.

The European roulette wheel however, features only one zero just like French roulette and many other variants that came after it. This is actually the original set up of the game before many casinos way back switched to the now declining double zero roulette wheel. The presence of one zero ruins the supposed fifty-fifty winning chances of the game’s even-money bets, but at a significantly lower percentage than the alternative double zero set up does.

In addition to this, the European game is also rife with unique table practices. For one, the bets are made using standard chips with their corresponding monetary value and the dealer sweeps them off the table using a special spade instead of his or her hands. Also, a tip to the dealer is not obligatory in European roulette, whereas it is a common gesture of courtesy in any other version.

European Roulette’s Rules

European roulette rules are fundamentally the same as in any other roulette games. As usual, the game begins once the table is opened for betting. In a span of a minute, the players place their stakes on a single number or a group of which. The betting ends once the dealer announces “No more bets” and spins the wheel. The ball is then rolled and wherever it stops is the winning bet. Now the winner doesn’t have to be specifically betting on that number, but also those betting on its color or the outside bet that covers it.

European roulette rules however, have a few quirks that make them stand out from those in other variations of roulette. Most of these are the inherited from the radically different French roulette, the most significant of which are the La Partage and En Prison rules. Both are applicable to even-money bets and are invoked as options whenever zero comes up. If the player opts for La Partage, he or she loses only half of the amount that was placed as bet. Alternatively, if the player opts for En Prison, his or her intact bets remain on the table for the next spin – this loses once zero comes up again, or is fully recovered if a different bet comes up.

Superficially, European roulette has the same feel as other versions of roulette. However, the rules pretty much differ from other variants, as do certain characteristics that are only visible to those who actually play the game.

What is a Roulette Device?

Roulette is a casino game created to provide expensive entertainment to gamblers and profits to the gambling establishment. As such, the game features randomness as one of its key characteristics. Roulette follows absolutely no pattern at all and as such, no one can deliberately beat it. Only swindlers and the lucky ones so far are known to have struck it rich in roulette. We have yet to hear of someone winning through a strategy or system.

However, there are those who decided not to try methods that allegedly manipulate the odds and refuse to resort to cheating. These individuals would rather use some sort of roulette device in order to beat the house at roulette. Such a device is meant to predict the results of the game, by receiving feedback from the wheel, the relevant figures of which it calculates to figure out when and where the ball will eventually land.

What Composes a Typical Roulette Device?

Many who are at least familiar of these devices’ existence will think that these are generally no more than a small, hidden piece of circuitry. This is not always, and perhaps often not the case. The device will require plenty of sensors to get the correct variables in order to accurately calculate the results. These sensors may be hidden in more strategic parts of the player’s apparel. Sometimes, they are even surreptitiously tacked somewhere on the roulette wheel or table. These sensors will then detect the wheel’s speed and the like to get the most relevant data. They will then send the feedback to the hidden computer, which will then do the necessary calculations.

Now the hidden computer merely takes in all those electronic feedback for it to do the necessary calculations – no more, no less in most cases. The said calculations may be able to predict the exact slot on which the ball will stop, but more often, the computer merely determines the section on the wheel that the ball will most likely fall. As such, many of these machines still retain a good margin of error, as they do not directly influence the game like cheating tools do.

Are Roulette Computers Legal?

A roulette computer device is not a cheat if it’s only meant to predict where the ball will land and not influence the odds within the game. Unfortunately though, roulette computers can increase a player’s chance of winning, and thus they are not tolerated by any casino. Individuals caught using a roulette system are expected to receive lawsuits, which will most likely be dropped for the reason that the use roulette computers do not fit any casino’s description of a cheat.

In addition, several laws were enacted to ban roulette devices. For this reason, the creators of these computers often keep their gadgets to themselves in order to avoid drawing the casinos’ attention. Sure, you may stumble upon certain folks on the Internet claiming to sell a roulette computer. Be warned though, that this is most likely a scam, as the use and sale of these devices are no longer legal since 30 years ago.

The use of roulette devices could have been a great, safe way to win at roulette. Unfortunately though, they have been made illegal, having been perceived by casinos as a threat to the money-making value of roulette.

Playing Roulette Like a Pro

A majority of casino gamblers love roulette, mainly for its simplicity, fast-paced gameplay, and great winning odds. The game’s allure is just too strong that many are attracted to it, and the audience it has charmed all came from varying social disposition. Roulette is simply mainstream and refuses to occupy a niche, making it a great casino cash-cow.

For all its simplicity, roulette is a really fun, thrilling game. It brims of excitement from betting to the actual spin, as the players try to anticipate where the ball will land next. True, most come to the roulette table for nothing more than the money that they can possibly earn in a few quick rounds. Nevertheless, roulette can still remain enjoyable even without the prospect of making a quick buck.

A lot of roulette players these days are pretty new to the game. As such, it’s not really that hard for them to commit bad decisions and mistakes. Such errors include betting blindly or making large wagers without proper management of funds. If you are one of these people, then this article certainly is for you.

How to Play Roulette Well?

Now, would you like to abandon your newbie gambling style and start playing roulette like one of those “professionals”? If that’s the case, here are a few great tips:

1. Fully understand the game.
As in everything, you should first fully comprehend the game. By now, it’s assumed that you know the basics which can be summed up in three phrases: place your bet, watch the dealer spin the wheel, and hope that you win. Now what you’ll need to grasp are the odds in the game, particularly that of the bets. High risk bets typically pay high while low risk ones pay low but have better chances of winning.

2. Use a roulette strategy.
Roulette strategies do not affect the probabilities of roulette. They simply play along the odds in order to eventually provide the player some profit if chance allows it. However, these betting strategies do give your otherwise random game the structure – or a pretense thereof – that it needs. Also, it will help you a lot with your money management, the lack of which being the downfall of many casino gamblers.

3. Start out small.
Don’t be so daring when making your first bet. Remember to always start with a small amount, especially if you’re using a progressive roulette strategy. Strategies that rely on negative progression in particular may be quite effective when aiming for profit but are very aggressive, so it’s best that you start with a few low value chips.

4. Save your wins.
Every time your money goes above your original bankroll, shave off the excess cash and put it in the bank. This is a way to ensure that you get plenty of profits if you’re lucky, and have some money that can make up for a portion of your loss once your bankroll gets eaten up by the table in a bad losing streak.

These are the universal tips that can gradually turn you into a pro roulette player if followed. None of these will give you a guaranteed win however, but at least they should enhance your winning odds and help you enjoy roulette more.

Top 5 Bets with the Best Roulette Payouts

Roulette is viewed by many gamblers of all social strata as a means to make quick profit. This is sadly true and the goal of profit is more prevalent in the mindset of roulette players than simply aiming to enjoy the game for what it is. Truly, the potential amounts of cash one can get in roulette is the casino game’s primary attraction, along with its alluring simplicity and straightforward mechanics.

No one can blame these roulette players for wanting to make profit at roulette. After all, most casinos present their roulette game as a gambling sport that’s easy to win, with advertisements suggesting that the player can rake in profits in his or her game. Unfortunately, roulette is a fully random game that cannot be won by skill and wit but with pure, unadulterated luck.

How Payouts in Roulette Are Calculated

While the game comes off as a simple gambling activity, the payout system can be quite complicated, and this is the reason why the process is entrusted to the house as represented by the dealer. Roulette payouts are based on the amount wagered on the table and its probability of winning. The rule is that basically, the payout decreases as the chance that the bet wins goes up, thereby making high risk bets very rewarding and the winnable ones pay what can be a rather disappointing amount. Also, all numbers in the table are counted while the zeros are left out in order to secure the house edge.

5 Best Paying Bets

Inner bets are wagers that can give the player the best roulette payouts. These bets refer to all the numbers in the table, and are called as such as they are in the “inner” portion of the roulette board as per the players’ perspective. These are the following, in order of decreasing payout:

1. Straight
Straight is a single bet on a number. It pays out the highest at 35 to 1, which basically means 35 times the amount wagered.

2. Split
This refers to a bet placed in the line between the two numbers it covers. It pays out at 17 to 1, the second highest in roulette.

3. Street
This bet covers an entire row of three numbers, and is placed at the edge corresponding to the numbers under its coverage. Street pays at 11 to 1.

4. Basket
This also covers three numbers, but can only be made in the first line and the zeros. The bet is placed on a point that effectively covers at least one zero and at least one number from the first row. This pays the same as the street bet.

5. Corner
Corner bets cover a block of four numbers, and are placed at the intersection between the selected betting spaces, paying out at 8 to 1.

These are the five best bets in the casino game roulette. As mentioned earlier however, high possible winnings and the actual probability of winning don’t go hand in hand, and thus, these bets carry a very high risk of losing. This makes these bets a lot more rewarding though, especially if you managed to make a hit early on.

Getting to Know the Roulette Table Layout

Roulette is one of the easiest casino games around. The rules and mechanics of the game are simple. It’s plainly a game where players bet on which pocket of a revolving wheel the small ball will come to rest. The roulette wheel has two variations depending on the type of roulette game. In European roulette, the original variant of roulette games, there are 37 colored and numbered pockets. The other type is the American roulette with 38 pockets. Unlike the European roulette which has one zero value for the house edge, American roulette has both single zero and a double zero values.

The numbers aren’t in usual consecutive order, but the roulette wheel is sensibly the easy concept of the game. Players only have to place their bets before the wheel is spun. One of the complexities of roulette, in terms of gaming device, lies in the table and its layout. Both high rollers and low rollers alike would be of the same mind when it comes to understanding the roulette table.

Roulette Betting Table for Starters

At first glance, the roulette table already appears as a special table with felt covers and a corner for dealers. The much simpler roulette wheel sits at one end or the middle depending on the type, but soon obscured by the numbers, markings, and columns arranged in a baffling set up. Unless it’s an online roulette game, there’s no legend that’ll pop up on the side for what the grids on the table means. There is information, however, on everything about the roulette table online. So that next time one plays in a real casino setting, one can have a better idea of what he or she is looking at.

Sections and Grids on the Roulette Layout Explained

As previously mentioned, American Roulette has 38 sections and European roulette has one less pocket. The common sets of numbers or numerical phrases found on the table consist of 1-18, 19-36, 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12 and 3 spots that say 2-1. For the symbols, there are two somewhat flattened diamond-shaped symbols or sometimes circles with red or black shades. There’s also the words ‘even’ or ‘odd’ on the table.

The numbers 1-18 is where the low bets go. If player’s wager for the ball to rest on the numbers among 1 to 18 slots, then that’s where the dealer places the chips. The numbers 19 to 36 is naturally, where the higher bets go. The 1st 12, 2nd 12, and 3rd 12 divide numbers into rows and make up the area for dozen bet types. Lastly, for the number sections on the table are the 2 to 1 column bets. A player can choose a 2-1 column they favor and place their bets on there.

Bets for even or odd numbers are located accordingly in areas marked with ‘even’ or ‘odd’. The red or black diamond-shaped symbols are where bets for the ball landing in red or black slots go. These are only the basic parts of the roulette board on land-based casinos. On online roulette boards, especially if one is playing racetrack roulette or roulette pro, there are additional table diagrams that can make neighbor bets easier.

Roulette game tables might come off as elaborate at first, but once explained makes learning other roulette tips easy. It can make playing roulette more enjoyable overall. The layout for the table only makes it easier to bet on multiple number combinations on a single spin. Most of the roulette bets aren’t straight up or flat. Anyone can also try roulette systems if they better understood the roulette table diagram.

Placing Bets on the Table

Roulette wagers have two types, which is inside or outside bets. Outside bets are general and intuitive betting types. When a player places wager on either red or black, odd or even, 1 to 18 or 19 to 36—that’s an outside bet. Inside bets are specific bets on straight up numbers or closer groups of neighboring numbers.

Owning a Table for a Private Roulette Game

Most people are content with playing online casino games since it’s more convenient. What if one wants an actual roulette table in the home, office, or even school to serve as a recreational facility other people can access and family or groups can share? It’s easy to order and purchase roulette counters if one has the resources, but those with a tight budget can opt to make their own. The roulette wheel, separately brought, requires another budget. Its construction is so detailed and precise; it won’t turn out well with using only makeshift parts.

Those who badly want to make their own table that works for the game can actually come up with their own working table. There are many online tutorials and video instructions on how to build roulette boards. One may need some basic carpentry skills though and a lot of patience to assemble it all together.

Understanding the Pros and Cons Before You Play Roulette

Roulette is one fun yet expensive casino game. If you’re not into gambling, you may think it is boring seeing players just placing their bets then watching the wheel spin and where the ball lands. That’s a very common first impression of the game. It’s not uncommon for people who thought so but started playing the game to change their opinion.

Roulette is the backbone of many casinos worldwide. It has become so popular that gambling establishments have become rich from their roulette tables, and that the wheel and the ball became one of the definitive symbols of the gambling industry. The game, an 18th century invention, has truly gone a long way throughout its history, having reached people all over the world through various technological innovations, most notably the Internet.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Playing Roulette

Indeed, roulette just has that inherent charm that draws so many players to its fold. In this article, we will examine the characteristics that make roulette such an attractive game and those that may potentially turn players off.

Reasons Why You Should Play the Casino Game Roulette

  1. Roulette is very easy to play – Roulette is famous for its simple set up, rules and game play. For starters, gamblers play roulette on a table with a wheel and a betting board. The wheel has 37 red and black numbers (1-36 and 0) in European roulette while 38 numbers (1-36, 0 and 00) in its American counterpart. To play the game, the players place wagers on the board until the dealer announces “no more bets”, upon which the ball is rolled onto an already spinning wheel. The corresponding number of the slot where the ball lands on is the winning bet.
  2. Players are offered multiple betting options – There are hundreds of betting combinations in roulette, giving you a lot of freedom and partial control of the game. You can put your stakes on inside bets, which are individual numbers on the board or a combination thereof. These bets pay high, but have very low chances of winning. You can also wager on outside bets, which are betting spaces for red, black, even and odd numbers, and eight specific ranges of inside bets. These ones produce very little payout as a trade off for their high winning odds.
  3. Winning odds in roulette is high – The chance of winning when you play roulette is another factor that made the game so popular. True, individual inside bets are rather hard to win, but the odds of winning outside bets – a little over 40% – are amongst the highest of all casino games.
  4. The game is among the few that can be easily played online – Roulette, like many other popular casino games, can now be played online. Thanks to the increased Internet usage the past decade has seen, various companies brought their businesses online, including gambling establishments. This has made roulette even more popular, as it brought so many common folk with an Internet access into its player base.

Disadvantages of Playing a Roulette Game

  1. Roulette is a very addictive game – Because of its simplicity, high winning odds, and the thrill it brings its players, roulette can be very addictive. People who play roulette for profit easily fall victim to this, as losing bets usually give them the goal to at least recuperate their losses, and small winning bets encourage them to keep playing on – these are both manifestations of greed, and the casino knows just how to make its income from it. Prolonged play can make people lose track of their gambling expenses, eventually leading to a serious drain in their coffers while the house gleefully profits.
  2. The game is completely random – Of all the characteristics of roulette, the game’s complete reliance on chance is what many average and experienced players have taken for granted. The long time neglect for this fact has caused so many people to create and use “strategies” and systems based on supposed patterns or trends in the roulette wheel. Despite seeming consistencies that occasionally come up, a normal unbiased roulette wheel is 100% random, and no single calculation can predict where the ball is landing next. Thus, the game presents no room for any tactical element, and even proven betting systems end up heavily flawed.

Like any other casino game, roulette has its own advantages, but does not come off without suffering the players a few big consequences. Roulette sure is a simple yet entertaining game, but let us not forget that in order to truly enjoy the game and end the day with a content smile on your face, self-control and knowing when to quit playing is essential.

Taking a Closer Look at Roulette Rules

Perhaps no other game of chance has gained as much respect and following as the ever popular casino game roulette. Roulette has garnered all these throughout the more than two centuries of its existence, barely changing from generation to generation. This fame extends beyond the walls of the casino – even if you’re a non-gambler, we’re pretty sure you’ve heard of this game at least once, given its oft-repeated portrayal in popular culture, usually as the very symbol of casinos themselves.

The Roulette Wheel and Table

Roulette’s popularity depends mainly on two factors: its straightforward game set up and the relatively simple roulette rules that accompany it. A typical roulette set has a table and a wheel, the arrangement of which depends on the version being played. Now the wheel has a number of red and black pockets – 37 in European roulette (0 and 1-36) and 38 in its American counterpart (0, 00 and 1-36) – the number or color of which the player bets on. The dealer spins this wheel on one direction and throws the ball on another, traveling on a track near the rim.

Meanwhile, the table has a layout where the bets are placed. In this layout, numbers 1-36, each with its respective color, are grouped in three columns. These are surrounded by the outside bet slots – typically red, black, odd, even, 1-18, 19-36, three column bets and three dozen bets – and 0 for European roulette or 0 and 00 for the American version of the game.

The Rules of the Casino Game

Eight players more or less are allowed to participate in a single roulette table. These players each predict which number or color the ball will land on after the next spin. They then place their chips – colored differently for each player – on their guesses. While doing so, the dealer starts to spin the wheel and, upon dropping the ball, announces, “No more bets.” The winning stakes is determined by that one pocket in the wheel on which the ball falls into. The winner’s chips are then exchanged with special chips – wherein a corresponding monetary value is imprinted – to be exchanged with real cash.

Types of Roulette Bets

Now there are two types of bets: inside and outside bets. These two types are subdivided into more specific categories. For inside bets, there are the straight (single number), split (two numbers), street (three numbers), square (four numbers) and the literally named five-number bets. Outside bets meanwhile are as follows: red or black, odd or even, low bets (1-18), high bets (19-36), column bets and dozen bets. We’ll talk about these wagers in another article.

Basics of Roulette Payouts

The payouts are determined by the winning player’s bet. The lesser the chances the bet has of winning, the higher the payout. For example, bets with fifty-fifty winning chances (a. k. a. even-money outside bets, e. g. red or black) pays one to one, thus earning the same amount as the original wager, while a single non-zero number can usually net 35 to one. The house then takes one or two chips from the player’s win, a deduction called the house advantage, from which the casino profits.

Other Rules in Roulette Games

Some casinos feature the roulette rules En Prison and La Partage besides the basic game play. The En Prison rule applies to even-money outside bets. Whenever the spin results in zero, the player is allowed to take one-half of his/her bet or leave it where it is for the next spin which should not once again result in zero or the whole bet is lost. The La Partage rule also applies to the same type of bets, but this time, the player loses only half the bet when the spin hits zero, and is not allowed to leave the remaining chips for the next spin. These rules significantly cut the house advantage on even-money outside bets and are thus not common to all casinos.

As can be read from the content of this article, roulette rules are not really that hard to follow. It should also be noted that these rules are the same for all roulette versions, with minor variation between the American and European versions. Granted, one can say that even an illiterate vagrant who cannot count can play the game as it should be played, provided that the basics are explained clearly and he can differentiate between numbers of course.

How to Play a Roulette Game?

Like bowling alleys, video game arcades and sports stadiums, casinos are great places to blow off some steam. The excitement you can get from every casino game is pretty much enough to temporarily relieve you of the stresses of life. It may appear like a wasteful way to entertain yourself, but if you came to play simply for fun, you’ll be sure your money’s worth it.

Of all gambling sports that exist in the casino, there is that single game that stands out above the rest. This is roulette, a game so popular because of its simplicity and high winning odds. If you’re into casino gambling for quite a while now, you can say that a crowded roulette table is a rather familiar sight in every gambling establishment.

Without a doubt, roulette’s player base continuously grows in number, especially now that the game is within everyone’s reach. Do you want to jump into the wagon yourself? Then read on, as we will discuss in the following sections the nuts and bolts of roulette.

Roulette 101: Fundamentals of the Casino Game

Let’s begin with roulette’s set up. The game is played on a table with two essential components: the wheel and the board. The former is a derivative of a 17th century invention by Dr. Blaise Pascal. It is composed of 37 or 38 colored numbers, a slot under each number where the ball is intended to stop, and a track near the rim on which the ball is rolled.

The board meanwhile is where players place their bets. It has betting spaces that represent each color, number and groups thereof in the wheel. There are two types of bets: inside and outside bets. The former refers to stakes placed on one or more specific numbers, while the latter means bets placed on a color slot and the number groupings specified on the board, i. e. even, odd, low numbers (1-18), high numbers (19-36), dozens and columns.

Basic Roulette Rules

Around eight players can participate in a roulette game. The following are the rules they follow when playing:

  1. Before the game begins, the gamblers first have to purchase an amount of chips – the color of which differs from player to player – from the dealer. These chips are used solely for betting and do not represent any amount.
  2. The players then make a guess as to where the ball may land on the next spin. After some speculation, they then place the chips on the betting space representing what they believe will be the winning number or the group or color wherein that number is located.
  3. They can change their stakes however much they want, even after the wheel is spun. However, the bets can no longer be moved once the dealer announces “no more bets” and proceeds to roll the ball.
  4. The ball is rolled opposite the direction towards which the wheel is spinning. Given its track’s downward sloping orientation, the ball gradually moves deeper into the wheel, eventually slowing down on the numbers’ slots. At that point, the ball slows down and eventually lands on the slot representing the bet that’s destined to win.
  5. In European roulette, players can invoke a couple of special rules if the ball lands on zero and their bet has lost. They can choose the La Partage option, where they can recover half of their bet. Otherwise, they can go with the En Prison (“imprison”) rule and their intact bet remains for the next spin. What follows to the “imprisoned” wager if the ball lands again on zero depends on the rules of the casino.

Payout and Winning Roulette

The payouts are decided by the odds the bet has of winning. Basically, inside bets pay higher because of its low winning odds while outside bets produce low payouts due to its ease of being won.

After the spin, the winning player(s) can then decide whether he has to keep on playing or take his money. If he chooses to do the latter, his playing chips will be replaced with chips that have a monetary value corresponding to his win. These chips can now be cashed in to the cashier and get traded with real currency.

As you have noticed, playing a roulette game can be very straightforward. There are a few fancy rules of course, but not so much that can make the game so complicated. Despite being simple and rather easy to follow, roulette is arguably enjoyable. This you will most likely agree with once you’ve finally started playing the game.

Banned Roulette System: Must You Use it or Not?

A roulette system is a type of system that is used by roulette players to help them get as much winnings in a roulette game as possible. Roulette players are so serious about winning that they would even try using systems which are considered illegal or what casinos would call a banned roulette system.  If you actually search online for different roulette systems that might work, you would encounter various systems. Some of them for free, while some are available with a fee.

What Roulette System is Best to Use

With the developments in our technology and the easy accessibility of online casinos, more and more players are trying to develop their own roulette system. Their purpose is either to use it while they play roulette or make money from it by selling it to other roulette players who might be interested to try it out. If you are a roulette player and you have not yet found a system that works for you, try to stay away from a banned roulette system.

In order to avoid getting into problems, especially when playing in land based casinos, check if the system you are about to try is a genuine one. Double check if it is not a banned system. You can check in roulette forums or read reviews online to confirm if it is OK to use the system. This is imperative if you are about to try a new roulette strategy.

Time tested and proven strategies like the Martingale system are most likely favored by roulette players. It was actually used way back in the 18th century and is still getting attention from players of the game today. The system calls for a player to double a bet after a loss. With this type of strategy, you will need to have a big funding for your bets, as you may easily lose a huge amount in the event that you go into a series of losses.

Would There Ever be a Foolproof System

Players have most likely read somewhere that there still is no ultimate system that could beat roulette. If there was, would you think the person who developed the system be willing to share it? Well, think about it, if you accidentally discovered a foolproof system and you just keep winning on any roulette game, would you still be wasting your time trying to promote and sell this system online? I guess the answer to the question is very clear and unexplainable.

If you are determined to win more games at roulette, remember that is is not a banned roulette system that will get you those wins. Instead, you need to know the game inside and out, to be able to make the right bets and know when to make those bets.

Essential Knowledge Needed Before Playing Roulette

There are a few things one should know before placing his or her bets on the table for the first time. Here’s a quick roulette guide before playing:

1. Know the rules.
For first time roulette players, knowing the rules is vital, and reading a good roulette guide is a must. Luckily, roulette has very minimalistic rules. In the American game, you only have to place your bets within the time you are allowed to wager then leave it there until the ball on the spinning wheel randomly picks the winner. In French and some European roulette games however, you get the La Partage and En Prison rules which are invoked when the ball lands on zero. With the former, you get to recover half of your bet. With the latter meanwhile, you can let your whole bet stay on the table for the next spin.

2. Know the bets.
Roulette bets are divided into two categories: inside and outside bets. Inside bets refer to the numbers 0 to 36 and are further classified according to the number of individual numbers covered by a single bet. Inside bets are known to have high payouts, but are often avoided for their low chances of winning. Outside bets meanwhile, are wagers placed in betting spaces that cover a significant portion of the table, specifically black, red, even, odd, low numbers, high numbers, columns, and dozens. These are favored more by experienced players due to the fact that they have very high chances of winning.

3. Know your strategy.
Roulette strategies are simply methods of betting. Using these strategies, a player decides on how much he or she should wager based on the results of the last spin. The Internet is teeming with these strategies, and all it takes to find the best strategy that suits you most is a quick Web search.

4. Know how to act.
If you’re playing roulette in a casino, it is important to know how you should act in a table. Casinos don’t have concrete rules regarding this, but the casino floor certainly has an unspoken code of conduct. There’s no need to worry though, as it’s just as simple as being courteous and considerate to other players and paying attention to the dealer for the duration of the game. Also, tipping the dealer after a win is customary.

These are all important knowledge that you should be aware of before playing a hearty game of roulette. Ignoring any of these will most likely get you into trouble or prevent you from enjoying your game to the fullest. Neglecting all of these is comparable to heading to war unequipped.
