Games of chance are very popular forms of entertainment for adults. Many find amusement from each game’s design, and many others find joy in the prospect of making a quick buck in gambling. The most popular of these games can be found in the casino’s tables, where they are played by gambling enthusiasts willing to shell out a ton of cash.
One of the most popular games of chance is roulette. Roulette is a game played on a table with a prominent wheel and a betting layout. The flow of the game is pretty simple: it starts with the player making a bet on one or more of the layout’s betting spaces, followed by the dealer spinning the wheel and eventually rolling the ball. Wherever the ball ends up in will be declared the winning bet.
As you can see, roulette is an uncomplicated gambling sport. This characteristic is what has charmed many casino gamblers into playing roulette, aside from the potential earnings of course. This simplicity is further highlighted by the fact that all the player needs to do is to place his or her bet.
Types of Betting Progression
There aren’t that many roulette methods of betting either. When classified according to progression, we will have the following:
1. Flat betting
Simply put, this is the basic betting style in roulette. The player basically places a bet on a number or one of the outside bets. If the bet loses, he or she will have to make the same bet on the same betting space on the layout. If the bettor wins, he or she can do likewise or simply cash his or her chips out if satisfied with the wins. This is rarely preferred by gamblers, and is used only by a handful roulette systems.
2. Negative progression
This form of betting progression is used by popular roulette strategies like the oft talked about Martingale. With this, the bettor starts with a small bet. If this loses, another bet is placed on the same spot, but with a value higher than the wager that precedes it. If a win is achieved however, the player typically decreases his or her bet’s value. The increase and decrease of the bet depends on the player’s own discretion, or on whatever negative progression roulette strategy he or she used. Depending on the strategy, this can be a rather risky progression, and is often strictly used on red and black or any other even-money bets for that matter.
3. Positive progression
The positive betting progression also enjoys a degree of popularity amongst roulette players. This is often featured in roulette methods and strategies that require several separate winning spins or a winning streak in order to gain profit. In this progression, the bettor will place a bet which, when successful, is increased. Whatever happens to the wager after a loss is then determined by the roulette system or strategy used by the player. Like negative progression, this is also applicable almost exclusively to even-money bets.
These progressions are the common ways to bet in roulette. These also serve as the key elements of roulette strategies, betting tactics that are meant to help the player reach the goal of winning.
